Using Collective Teacher Efficacy to Build Teacher Clarity and Student Self-Efficacy in the Classroom

Developing program to assist in self-efficacy in the classroom

Actual Project Description
In math, students will build self-efficacy (Hattie Effect Size 0.92) by using Success Criteria and Proficiency Scales to know where they are, where they need to go, and what to do next. Teachers will use data to provide individual support for the needs of all students at all levels. Teachers will also collaborate to build teacher clarity (Hattie Effect Size 0.75) on essential standards, use assessment data to reflect on instruction, and build collective teacher efficacy (Hattie Effect Size 1.57) to refine teaching methods.

First, teachers will build student self-efficacy through Success Criteria that is based off of Proficiency Scales that meet Utah Core Standards. This will help students determine his/her understanding of a concept and show students exactly what he/she needs to learn. Then, teachers will use Blended Learning to support all students’ individual needs. Lastly, teachers will meet weekly to discuss if a student is achieving the Success Criteria through analyzing assessment data. This meeting will also be used to plan/create lessons that utilize technology based instruction (screencasts, Google Suite, Freckle, Khan Academy, etc.) and to refine best practices in teaching and talk about instruction that is working in the classroom.

Teachers will collect student work, reflections, and take notes during meetings to show collaboration. Teachers will also document lesson plans to show how these plans meet individual student needs. Student scores will be reflected in Proficiency Scales, student reflections, and district and state assessments.
